Spirit, Service, and Community in the Second Half of Life
Saturday, February 23, 2008   9 AM–5 PM
Seymour Center, 2551 Homestead Road in Chapel Hill

The Longevity Revolution has added 30 years to our average life span. How do we insure our longer lives will be richer, more meaningful lives?

How do we explore new avenues for individual growth and spiritual deepening?
How do open ourselves to new opportunities for an "Encore" career and meaningful work?
How do we gather about us companions for the journey and create new models of community?

Join Second Journey founder Bolton Anthony, philosopher John Sullivan, and ElderSpirit founder Dene Peterson for a stimulating morning of exploration, followed by an afternoon of World Café conversation.

See www.SecondJourney.org/Seymour.htm for further information or call the Seymour Center at (919) 968-2070.

“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”
— Mary Oliver

How do we make best use of our dividend of extra years?

  • How do we open ourselves to inner work, exploring new avenues for individual growth and spiritual deepening... so that our longer lives become more meaningful lives?

  • What calls us to work in the world? How do we find that “intersection between our own deep gladness and the world's deep hunger”... so that our longer lives become wider lives?

  • How do we gather companions for the journey? How do we create new communities for later life... so that our longer lives become richer and more satisfying lives?

The presenters in the morning include Second Journey founder, Bolton Anthony (pictured above with Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi), philosopher John Sullivan, and ElderSpirit founder Geraldine (Dene) Peterson.

In the afternoon, progressive rounds of a World Café conversation will allow participants to explore their own insights and connect with colleagues with similar passions.
